Our panel of external community judges  will select, from the top 10 video submissions, the top 3 Winners. Three (3) prizes in the Contest will be awarded to the pitches, as deemed by the results from the judges. Find out more about our judges below!

 

Morgan Dunn

Morgan Dunn is the Communities Building Youth Futures Coordinator for Turning the Tide (an Inspiring Communities initiative) in Digby, Nova Scotia. She has been with Turning the Tide for over two years, she initially started as a university placement while taking her bachelor’s degree in Community Development from Acadia university, before creating her own job with Turning the Tide to support youth in the Digby area. Morgan has gained experience in facilitation and leadership through working with youth and community partners to pilot and scale new and existing programs to support youth in the transition to adulthood.

 

 

 

Troy Lawrence 

Born in Halifax, grew up in Yarmouth, Troy has worked in 80% of the Provinces in Canada, with 3 Multi Nationals, in Senior Management roles. Troy has a Degree in Business Administration, functionally Bilingual and is the President of Mielle Chanel Inc. Both Sonia and Troy own Honey Bee Deli (Japanese Restaurant/Juice Bar & Ice Cream Parlor), located in Dayton. They returned to Yarmouth, from Toronto, in 2015, for family, a better quality of life for their children, and give back to the community.

 

 

Ingrid Deon

Ingrid Deon is the CEO of word-craft inc., a social media marketing agency headquartered in Yarmouth. Her company specializes in organic social media strategy, content creation and community management, and works with clients such as Nestlé, Manulife Bank and Kraft Heinz. She started her career as a journalist but switched over to social media when she was offered an opportunity to work at a digital marketing agency. Talking to people about social media, female entrepreneurship and knitting are what lights Ingrid up!

 

 

Chris Peckham

Chris Peckham is the Human Resources Manager with A.F. Theriault & Son Ltd. in Meteghan River, NS. A.F. Theriault employs approximately 200 people in the shipbuilding/repair industry in various trades with roughly 150 in production and 50 administrative staff.

Professionally, he strives to assist the Employees of A.F. Theriault progress their career goals as well as continue to make A.F. Theriault & Son Ltd. a great place to work. The continuous effort of all team members from all aspects of our company make the day-to-day working life at A.F. Theriault a truly enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Personally, he is a Dad to two beautiful children and fiancée to an amazing woman. Dad is and always will be his “main” job title. When not at the office, you will find him with his children enjoying the true joys of life!

 

Angelique Leblanc

Chief Executive Officer of the Western Regional Enterprise Network since August 2014 – Angélique has a natural ability to lead teams and develop partnerships. To strengthen this innate talent, Angélique has dedicated herself to gaining both education and experiences that provide great value to her regional economic development contribution.

Her economic and business development experience in Nova Scotia have equipped Angélique with an acute understanding of the challenges faced by local business communities.  She has built a solid network of regional and provincial contacts and has worked with all levels of government in the process.

A native, bilingual Nova Scotian, Angélique also spent 6 years teaching abroad, and acquired a global perspective along with the ability to thrive in challenging circumstances.

Angélique has an MBA through Université de Moncton.

 

Matthew L. Trask, BBA, M.Ed.

Matt has been an important part of the local business community over the past 30 years, having owned and operated several successful businesses in the Yarmouth area.  He remains active to this day; between 2015 and 2018, Matt served as Executive Director of the Yarmouth & Area Chamber of Commerce.  After that, served as the Economic Development Lead for the Western Regional Enterprise Network’s BusinessNow Program.  Currently, Matt serves his community as Employment Engagement Specialist with Southwest Employment Services, assisting employers with their hiring and training needs.

Over the years, Matt has served on several local, provincial, and national boards including the Insurance Brokers Association of NS (Past President), the YMCA of Yarmouth (Past President), the Yarmouth Police Advisory Board, the Mariners Center Management Board (Vice Chair), the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation (Marketing Chair), Juniper House Shelter for Women, and the Atlantic Ronald McDonald House Campaign Cabinet.  Matt is also very proud to be a founding member of the 100 Guys Who Share – Yarmouth County, a charitable group that has contributed (thus far) more than $250,000 to local charities.

Matthew currently resides in Yarmouth with his wife Michelle and although the enjoy their empty nest, they miss their 3 children immensely.
