Connector Program Launches New Apprenticeship Focus
Building the Skilled Trades Pipeline – One Connection at a Time
The Connector Program at the Western REN has always been about creating meaningful, local connections. Connections between job seekers and established professionals. Now, we’re excited to announce an important evolution: a new focus on Apprenticeships in the Skilled Trades.
Serving a Need in the Workforce
The Connector Program’s new focus on apprenticeship is designed to help bridge the gap between motivated job seekers and businesses ready to take on apprentices. There is a growing need for tradespeople in Western Nova Scotia and indeed the entire province. This isn’t just about job placement. It’s about finding the right fit between apprentices, Journeypersons, and employers to support long-term success and economic growth.
“We know that many employers in the trades are looking for the right person to invest in—someone motivated, teachable, and ready to grow with their business. At the same time, there are people in our region eager to start a meaningful career in the trades. This new Apprenticeship focus is about connecting those dots.”
— Miranda MacLean, Connector Program Coordinator
Through this expanded focus, the Connector Program will support apprenticeship pathways by making targeted introductions, raising awareness of opportunities, and helping job seekers navigate the skilled trades landscape.
Whether you are a business in need of fresh talent or someone looking to start a rewarding career in the trades, the Connector Program is here to help. Are you interested in finding out what a career in the skilled trades could look like for you? Are you a journeyperson or business in need of people eager to learn and to grow with your business? We are here to help facilitate those connections. As you grow your business, you help grow our local economy.
