Western REN Welcomes Ron Smith Back to the Board of Directors
The Western REN is pleased to announce the return of Ron Smith to its Board of Directors.
A lifelong Yarmouth resident, Ron has built an impressive career in business leadership and governance. His executive experience includes serving as Chief Financial Officer of Maritime Tel & Tel (now Bell Aliant) and later as CEO of both Emera and Nova Scotia Power. Since retiring, Ron has remained active as a professional director, contributing to organizations such as the CPP Investment Board, Alamos Gold, PROREIT, and the Public Service Superannuation Trustee Inc., where he was the founding Chair.
Equally committed to community service, Ron has supported many not-for-profit organizations, including the Arthritis Society, Inclusion Canada, and the IWK Health Centre. He also served on the Acadia University Board of Governors for 24 years, five of those as Chair.
As a founding member of the Western REN Board of Directors, Ron has played a key role in advancing regional economic development since the organization’s early days. His return to the Board reflects his ongoing dedication to fostering economic growth and community vitality in Southwest Nova Scotia.
