Top Five Businesses Announced in Win This Space Competition
Five local entrepreneurs have been chosen to move on to the final phase of the Western Regional Enterprise Network’s Win This Space (WTS) Business Start-Up Competition
Western Nova Scotia-January 15th, 2021
Eighteen applications were received for the Western REN’s first ever Win This Space competition. Over the last three months, the applicants have gone through training sessions delivered by the Community Business Development Corporation (CBDC). Once the contestants finished their mandatory training, they submitted their business plans to the three independent judges chosen by the Win This Space Committee.
The Top 5 finalists, who were announced over Facebook live today, will be moving on to the pitch competition where they will live pitch their businesses Dragon’s Den style to the judges on January 28th, 2021.
“We have received several great business ideas for Win This Space and selecting five finalists was not an easy decision for our judges” said Angélique LeBlanc, CEO for the Western Regional Enterprise Network. “This is a very exciting opportunity for local entrepreneurs, and it will be great to have these businesses open in our region.”
The Grand prize winner of this competition will then choose which space within the region they want to operate their business in. They will be awarded one-year $1000 per month rent contribution which will be paid directly to a landlord in the region, an Ignite Lab Resident Membership for one year and a professionally produced website with e-commerce platform included. The 2nd place winner will be awarded an Ignite Lab Resident Membership for one year and a website.
