Western REN Seeks Videographer to Celebrate Dark Sky T’Railway Volunteers (formerly Rails to Trails)

The Western Regional Enterprise Network (Western REN) is inviting proposals from videographers to create a professional video celebrating the volunteers who keep the Dark Sky T’Railway thriving and to highlight the trail’s growing role as an economic driver for Western Nova Scotia.

Stretching 200 kilometers across the region, the Dark Sky T’Railway connects communities and offers a safe, scenic corridor for walkers, cyclists, ATV riders, equestrians, and nature enthusiasts. Many locals still think of it as the Rails to Trails, but today it proudly carries the name Dark Sky T’Railway. No matter what you call it, the trail exists thanks to the dedication of countless local volunteers and community groups who give their time, energy, and resources to maintain this important regional asset.

Supported by Co-operators Insurance, this project will produce a 3–4 minute video featuring interviews with volunteers and trail users, stunning drone footage, and dynamic storytelling. The video will showcase not only the dedication of volunteers but also the T’Railway’s role as a year-round tourism destination, a catalyst for local spending, and an important contributor to regional economic vitality.

“Volunteers are the backbone of the T’Railway,” said Brenda LaGrandeur, Western REN Project Lead. “This video will honour their efforts and inspire others to get involved, while also positioning the trail as a vital driver of recreation, tourism, and rural economic development.”

The final video, to be delivered in early 2026, will include social media reels and promotional stills. Western REN and Co-operators branding will be featured throughout, reinforcing their shared commitment to community wellness, volunteerism, and local growth.

Videographers interested in submitting a proposal should provide a portfolio of relevant work, a proposed creative approach, and a detailed cost breakdown. Proposals are evaluated on creativity, cost-effectiveness, and demonstrated ability to tell compelling community stories.

The deadline for submissions is September 19, 2025.
