Western Nova Scotia Local Immigration Partnership Launches Community Surveys
The Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) of Western Nova Scotia, administered by the Western REN, is launching three surveys to gather community input that will guide its next three-year strategic plan.

What is the Local Immigration Partnership?
Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the LIP brings together service providers, community groups, employers, and local organizations to build a welcoming and inclusive environment for newcomers.
“Employers across the Western Region invest significant time and effort in recruiting talented people from all over the world,” said Local Immigration Project Coordinator Alex Rios. “By helping newcomers and their families feel at home here, we also help businesses succeed and our communities grow.”
Why Community Input Matters
The surveys are designed to hear directly from three groups:
- Newcomers and immigrants who live in the region
- Employers who recruit and hire immigrant talent
- Community members who want to see their towns thrive
Input from these surveys will help the LIP and its partners create strategies that focus on retention, community engagement, and long-term prosperity.
How to Participate
Surveys will remain open until October 27th.

Survey Definitions
Newcomer: A person who was born outside of Canada and has moved to this region, regardless of how long they have lived in Canada. A foreign national, even if you have been here for more than a decade.
Employer: A person who owns, manages, or runs a business.
Community Member: A person who lives in the Western Region and does not fall into either of the above categories.
The Western NS Local Immigration Partnership believes that a strong community is built when everyone’s voice is heard. By participating in the surveys, residents, newcomers, and employers can directly influence strategies that support growth and prosperity in the region.
