Western REN Launches Second Annual Toy Drive to Support Local Families

The Western Regional Enterprise Network (Western REN) has kicked off its second annual Toy Drive, inviting community members to help brighten the holidays for children in need across Western Nova Scotia. The campaign is on now through Thursday, December 11th.  Donations are collected at the Western REN office, 210 Main Street in Yarmouth.

The Toy Drive was introduced last year to support local families during the holiday season.  There was tremendous community response. This year, the Western REN is building on that momentum, once again encouraging residents and partners to donate new, unwrapped toys. Local organizations that work directly with families facing financial challenges will be given the toys.

“We were truly moved by the generosity shown during last year’s drive,” says Western REN Communications Coordinator Wade Cleveland.  “This initiative reflects the heart of our region – people who care deeply about their neighbours. With the ongoing pressures families are feeling, even one toy can help bring joy to a child’s Christmas. And our communites are known to step up when our neighbours are in need.”

There Will Be Toys Under the Tree

A Christmas tree has been set up inside the Western REN office, where donors can place their contributions during regular business hours. The team hopes to see the tree grow into a symbol of community spirit as the donations pile up. The collected toys will be distributed to local organizations throughout the Western Region ahead of the holidays.

Community members who wish to participate are encouraged to stop by the office before the December 11th deadline. Businesses and organizations interested in contributing or promoting the drive are also welcomed to reach out.

“This Toy Drive is a simple way for anyone to make a meaningful difference,” Cleveland adds. “The holidays can be a difficult time for many families, and we’re grateful to everyone who chooses to give.”
