Western Nova Scotia- December 2, 2020

The WTS committee met last Tuesday November 23rd, 2020 to review the applicant’s videos and short essays. Eighteen local entrepreneurs have been chosen to take part in the first ever Win This Space mandatory business training sessions offered by the Community Business Development Corporation (CBDC) through the month of December 2020. The sessions are delivered by two qualified seasoned trainers.

The training is designed to help applicants go through the process of creating their business plan that will be submitted to three independent judges in early January 2021. Upon reviewing the business plans, the judges will choose five finalists to participate in a virtual Dragons Den style pitch.

23 potential rental spaces have been located throughout the region, ranging from storefronts to commercial kitchens. Landlords are still able to participate by connecting with Brenda LaGrandeur via email or through the landlord application on the Western Regional Enterprise Network’s website (https://westernren.ca/winthisspace/).

The Grand prize winner of this competition will be awarded one-year $1000 per month rent contribution which will be paid directly to a landlord in the region, an Ignite Lab Resident Membership for one year and a professionally produced website with e-commerce platform included. The 2nd place winner will be awarded an Ignite Lab Resident Membership for one year and a website.
