Your Business, Our Support: Our Regional Resource Page & Why It Matters

By Wade Cleveland

Every October, Small Business Week shines a light on the incredible entrepreneurs and business owners who keep our region strong, creative, and resilient. Small businesses are the heartbeat of our local economy. And an equally dedicated network of organizations is working behind the scenes to help them thrive.

At the Western REN, we’re proud to be part of that network. We work with CBDC Yarmouth, the Yarmouth & Area Chamber of Commerce, Nova Scotia Works, CDÉNÉ, Ignite Atlantic, and the Town and Municipalities of Yarmouth and Argyle. Together our organizations collaborate year-round to help businesses start, grow, and succeed.

One page, many paths to success

This group of dedicated local partners begin in late August to organize Small Business Week events. We put together everything from workshops to socials to award celebrations. Each organization brings something unique to the table. Together, we form a kind of “ecosystem of support” that helps our business community grow stronger, smarter, and more connected.

One of the things we put together every year is an updated Business Resources Page.

The Business Resources page is a simple, one-stop guide to the supports available for local businesses. Whether you’re a new entrepreneur looking for start-up advice, an established company planning your next expansion, or an employer searching for training and workforce programs, this page can help connect you to the right resources.

The 2025 edition includes local contacts, programs, and services from across the region — from financing and business planning to mentorship, innovation, and immigration support. It’s designed to make navigating the world of business support easier, faster, and more approachable. It’s designed as a living resource, updated each year to reflect what’s new and what’s working.

At the Western REN, we believe that when local businesses succeed, the whole region benefits. Growth, innovation, and opportunity ripple outward — supporting families, communities, and the next generation of entrepreneurs.
